Sweet Sweet Grace

As this is my first post and “grace” is in the title of my site, I thought we’d talk about God’s amazing grace for a few minutes.

Welcome to Take Hold of Grace!  I’m so glad you’ve taken the time to check out my site.

When I was trying to come up with a name for my online ministry, I knew I wanted “grace” in the name.  Take Hold of Grace really resonated with me because it’s something we need to do every day.  I need to take hold of, grasp, clench, grip, grab grace every single day.  Some days you might think you can do it on your own, but nope….you ALWAYS need His grace!  God’s grace is always there, but there are times we forget and we need to cling and hold on dearly to the promise of grace.

There are many different ways to describe grace and some wonderful quotes on grace (as I’ve shared in my eBook, 26 Quotes on Grace).

A few of Webster’s definitions are:

  • “Unmerited divine assistance given to humans for their regeneration or sanctification.”
  • “a virtue coming from God”
  • “a state of sanctification enjoyed through divine assistance”
  • “a short prayer at a meal asking a blessing or giving thanks”

An acrostic that most of us have probably seen is:

However you define grace, it is a sweet, precious and amazing word for Christians.  No matter how much we mess up and fess up, God’s grace is always there to forgive and love us back to Him.  He never stops loving us no matter what we do.  It’s not from anything we say or do, it’s simply who He is.

On this earth, it’s so hard to wrap my head around grace.  It’s nothing I’ve done on my own and all His unmerited favor towards me.  I don’t think we’ll truly ever fathom the fullness of His grace on this side of Heaven.  What an overwhelming gift God has made available for everyone who believes.

For it is by grace you have been saved through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT)
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by this grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:23 (NIV)

His grace is covers us from the top of our heads to the bottom of our toes.

Amazing grace…how sweet the sound!

How about you?  What does grace mean to you?

Dear Father: Thank you for sending Jesus to die for our sins and giving us eternal life through our faith in Him.  Thank you for grace and mercy that we don’t deserve.  Help my sisters here to take hold of your grace each and every day.  May we show grace to others as you have shown to us.  In Jesus’ name. Amen.
