Front Porch Chat #2 – She Speaks 2023 Recap
A recap of the 2023 She Speaks Christian Women’s Conference.
Hi sister. How have you been?
Life has been a little hectic lately and I’m just now getting around to sharing my experience last month at She Speaks 2023. This is a yearly conference put on by Proverbs 31 Ministries for Christian women communicators. It was a quick trip with flying in to Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday, speaker sessions on Thursday and Friday, and then flying back on Friday.
This was one of the most amazing and uplifting conferences I’ve ever been to. I got to meet new friends I’d only interacted with in our private Facebook group, hear inspirational speakers from all over and worship with hundreds of sisters in the faith. It’s so hard to put into words the feelings experienced from this conference.
Speakers included:
Day 1 – Lysa TerKeurst, Hosanna Wong, Jennifer Dukes Lee, and Ruth Chou Simons
Day 2 – Suzie Eller, Mary Marantz, Priceles Perreaux-Dominguez, and Gloria Umanah
How’s that for a line-up?
Day 1 Speakers
Each day started with worship music by a very talented group of musicians. There were four speakers per day with breaks, lunch and more worship. I laughed, said Amen, hugged my new friends, took lots of notes, got emotional and my eye makeup was all gone at the end of each day from the tears. It was so evident that the Lord was in our midst.
Day 2 Speakers
There were a lot of extra special times during the conference, but I’ll share those later in other posts. Instead of trying to summarize the whole conference at one time, I’m going to break it into parts and share quotes from speakers in multiple posts in the Faith category on my website. You may find some quotes that are meaningful to you.
Proverbs 31 team members / Worship Team / New Friends
One especially moving and emotional time was at the end of the second day when the Proverbs 31 team came on stage and prayed for attendees for different circumstances (i.e., if you didn’t feel like you were enough, if you had depression, if you had experienced loss and were grieving, and more). You would stand for any area that applied to you and people around you would put their hands on you while a team member prayed over those who stood. Then, at the very end, we all stood at one time and were prayed for. Such a heartfelt feeling.
